Quim Domene

Den spanske kunstner Quim Domene startede sin karriere som grafisk designer, men hans kunstneriske virke skiftede snart efter til fordel for maleriet.

Fra 1968 udstillede Quim Domene sammen med forskellige spanske kunstnergrupper, så som Grup d'Ara, Assemblea d'Artistes de la Garrotxa og Temps de Ruptura.
Siden 1974 har han haft separatudstillinger i en række spanske gallerier. Begyndende fra 1980 har Quim Domene haft separatudstillinger i forskellige europæiske byer, f.eks. Hannover, Kassel, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Köln, Bonn, Stockholm, Zürich, Bern, Wien,Bordeaux og Toulouse.

I 1991 havde Quim Domene sin første separatudstilling i New York og siden 1998 har han også haft en række separatudstillinger i Japan, bl.a. i Kobe, Osaka, Tokyo og Kyoto. Quim Domene har også deltaget i en række internationale kunstmesser og biennaler i Madrid (ARCO og Estampa), Barcelona, Valencia; Hannover, Kassel, Montreal, Buenos Aires, og Osaka.

Quim Domene arbejder med flere forskellige medier, især maleri kombineret med andre teknikker.

Visual artist. Currently, he works with several media, especially with painting combined with other techniques, but also photography, reprography, installations, and sculpture, mainly in y public sculpture. His works are developed in thematic and stylistic series.

In 1968 he began to exhibit with several collectives, such as “Grup d’Ara”, “Assemblea d’Artistes de la Garrotxa” and “Olot Temps de Ruptura”. In 1974, he began to solo exhibit in several Catalan and Spanish cities, such as Olot, Figueres, Banyoles, Blanes, Palafrugell, Tossa de Mar, Begur, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Girona, Barcelona, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Vic, Granollers, Reus, Elx, Palma de Mallorca… In 1980 he began to solo exhibit his works in various European cities, such as Hannover, Kassel, Sttutgart, Düsseldorf, Friedberg, Köln, Bonn, Kamen, Möln, Wunstorf, Eckernförde, etc. (Germany); Stockholm (Sweden); Zürich, Bern, Zug, Wil (Switzerland); Wien (Austria); Bordeaux, Grignan, Toulouse and Montpellier (France); Copenhagen and Odense (Denmark). His first solo exhibition in New York (USA) was held in 1991. Since 1998 he also solo exhibits in Japan: Kobe, Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, Okayama and Ashiya.

He has participated in several international art fairs and biennales in Madrid (ARCO and ESTAMPA), Barcelona, Valencia; Hannover, Kassel (Germany), Montreal (Canada), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Osaka (Japan), Montpellier (France) and Copenhaguen (Denmark).

He has made several public sculptures/urban interventions in Catalonia, in cities such as Olot, Girona, les Preses, Riudellots de la Selva, Calella de Palafrugell, Cassà de la Selva, Figueres... as well as the interior paintings for a hotel in Praha (Czech Republic), set design for the National Theatre of London (U.K.) and installation in the square of the City Hall of Barcelona.

Since 2005 he has been working in a large series of mixed media on cardboard paintings titled “Letters to Kurt Schwitters”.
